Kinja'd!!!

Follow up to my last post about the discount Z125 - They sold the last one as I was driving there. Walked in, and the salesguy told me they were finishing paperwork on it. Then fate strikes and I am now buying a 2019 grom w/ ABS for about 100$ less than the Z125. I’m just as confused as you.

Apparently someone bought it at the beginning of the month but didn’t ride it much and wanted a bigger bike so they traded it in. Since it was used there was no dock fee or prep fee. Just tax and plate. So OTD I’m under 2600 while the Z125 would’ve ended up being over 2700. I see now why the Z125 and some of the groms aren’t selling if they retail for 3000+ and then you tack on the other fees.

Anyways, gonna get insurance tonight and pick it up on saturday and then do dank whoolies everywhere. Maybe sell it at the end of summer to break even thanks to saving on gas.

I don’t understand how an adult fits on one of those.

Like riding a small, angry horse. Especially compared to my KLR. My KLR sits up high, but the bars rise up and the bike has a lot of height to it too. My triumph is uch more low-slung, but the tank grips and overall layout lead to a more “inside the bike” feeling.

The grom/z125 are more like you’re on top of the bike, even with bar risers.

While motorcycles don’t come with an inside, they do come with a lot of outside.

Congrats! I love these things but agree that I just can’t see $3k+ in it. But at $2600 you done good!  Enjoy and keep it shiny side up!

As I was paying the deposit, the dealer put the "sold" tag on the bike. I heard a guy on the floor go "awwwwwww, really?". Dude was a few minutes too late.

This is why I want one.  To practice dank wheelies.  When I was riding my Repsol I wanted 2 wheels on the ground at all times to have some semblance of control over that death missile.  Now I just want something I can screw around on.

A repsol CBR1000rr? Or a CBR250R?

Not gonna lie, I want a repsol CBR250R for a commuting bike simply because it l ooks fast as fuck but is no faster than a camry.

I now want a repsol grom.

But anyways, yeah that is a wild-ass bike. I admire literbikes from a distance but my trophy 1200 is mellow enough for me to handle and any more than that is probably too much.

That’s definitely a fine deal... ridiculously fine.

I went from looking at a Z125 to a CB125 (because they are even cheaper) then the Grom at AU$4k then Monkey at AU $5k then SuperCub at AU $6 k before deciding that a Royal Enfield Himalayan at AU$7k was actually something I would like to ride ...damn I love window shopping.

The nearest enfield dealership is selling himalayans for 4500$ USD. Probably 5200$ OTD. There is a really sharp 650 INT for 5700$ USD. Awfully tempting but I’d take a slightly used MT-07 or SV650 instead.

Sweet  bike!  Wife is now thinking about taking the MSF course, I’m wondering if something like this would be good for her after.

It’s not a bad starter bike, but it isn’t as indicative of most bikes as something like a ninja 250 or honda rebel would be. It reminds me a lot of a trail bike, like the TW200 does, which is a lot of fun. But it is also very apparent that it isn’t like my KLR or Triumph.

Is it as much fun to ride as it looks like?

It is, but I wonder if part of that fun comes from having those mini bikes as a kid powered by a single cylinder lawnmower engine. I think the TW200 is also one of the most fun bikes ever made and most people write it off as farm equipment.

Fortnine did a good movie about the TW200 a while back. I recommend it.

They also did one on the Z125 (a grom competitor). It’s another good one.
